Where to Stay in Hua Hin
Your guide to the best areas and accommodation types
Hua Hin stretches along several kilometers of Gulf coastline, and where you sleep shapes the trip entirely. Three zones define most stays: the central beachfront for easy sand access, the town center for markets and food, and the quieter southern headland near Khao Takiab. Hua Hin covers every budget tier, from guesthouses tucked into sois off Phetkasem Road to historic colonial-era resorts fronting the beach.
First-time visitors do well to plant themselves near Beach Road and branch out from there.

The central strip where Beach Road runs parallel to the sand. Night market stalls fill the air with charcoal smoke each evening, tuk-tuks buzz past hawkers selling skewered squid, and the Gulf breeze carries the low roar of the sea. This is where most first-time visitors to Hua Hin anchor themselves, and for good reason.
- ✓ Steps from the water
- ✓ Night market on the doorstep
- ✓ Most dining and activity options within easy walking distance
- ✗ Higher nightly rates than inland areas
- ✗ Beach vendors approach sunbathers throughout the day
- ✗ Traffic noise on Beach Road during weekends

The grid of streets behind the beach, centered on Dechanuchit Road and the Plearnwan vintage market. The air here smells of grilled corn and rain-dampened pavement, guesthouse sois are shaded and quiet, and the beach is a short walk or songthaew ride away from most properties.
- ✓ Lowest rates anywhere in Hua Hin
- ✓ Immediate access to Plearnwan, Chatchai Night Market, and local restaurants
- ✓ Quieter at night than the beachfront strip
- ✗ Beach requires a walk or a short ride
- ✗ Fewer pool options among budget guesthouses
- ✗ Less polished streetscape than the resort corridor

The southern headland a short drive from central Hua Hin, anchored by a temple-topped hill where macaques peer down from above. The beach here is calmer, the seafood restaurants along the headland road smell of woodsmoke and brine, and the atmosphere is noticeably more local than the polished resort strip to the north.
- ✓ Quieter beach with fewer vendors approaching the water
- ✓ Authentic seafood restaurants at lower prices than the beachfront
- ✓ A distinctly local Hua Hin atmosphere that the central strip lacks
- ✗ Requires a songthaew or tuk-tuk to reach central Hua Hin
- ✗ Fewer evening entertainment options within walking distance
- ✗ Limited dining variety compared to the town center

The quieter residential stretch north of the train station, where championship golf courses border the beach and large resort compounds sit behind manicured hedges carrying the sweet scent of cut grass. Families and golfers anchor themselves here, and the wide pale sand is noticeably less crowded than the central Hua Hin strip.
- ✓ Uncrowded beach with more room to breathe
- ✓ Close proximity to championship golf courses
- ✓ Large resort pools and grounds suitable for families with children
- ✗ Town center dining and nightlife require a tuk-tuk or motorbike ride
- ✗ Little evening atmosphere within walking distance
- ✗ Minimal walkability to markets or street food

Booking Tips
Insider advice to help you find the best accommodation.
Songkran in mid-April and the long weekend around the King's Birthday in late July are the most unpredictable booking periods in Hua Hin. Bangkok families drive down in convoys and the central beachfront hotels sell out weeks ahead. Book well in advance for these windows.
Hua Hin sits on the sheltered Gulf side of the peninsula. The June-through-October wet season brings afternoon showers rather than week-long downpours, and hotel rates drop considerably. Many travelers find the lower prices and manageable weather a worthwhile tradeoff for the occasional afternoon spent listening to rain on the roof.
Paying for a sea view from your window carries a meaningful premium in Hua Hin. In a town where the beach is reachable on foot from almost anywhere in the center, that extra spend is worth weighing carefully against what the same money buys at a slightly inland property with a pool.
North Hua Hin resorts near the golf courses follow golf-tourism patterns rather than beach-tourism patterns. November through February sees the steepest rates at properties like Anantara and the InterContinental. These hotels court European golfers who pair a round with a beach holiday. Rates in the north can diverge sharply from those in the central Hua Hin strip.
When to Book
Timing matters for both price and availability.
Book six to eight weeks ahead for November through February. Do the same for Songkran in mid-April and Thai long weekends in July.
March through early April and September through October offer good value. Booking one to two weeks ahead is typically sufficient outside of holiday weekends.
May through August sees fewer international visitors. Thai domestic travelers increase on weekends. Weekday stays during this period can often be secured with just a few days of notice.
Two weeks ahead covers most Hua Hin stays comfortably. The exceptions are beachfront luxury properties during the cool-season peak and any Thai national holiday weekend.
